Karrin Vasby Anderson

Karrin Vasby Anderson is Professor of Communication Studies at Colorado State University, researching political identity construction through popular media and connections between gender equity and democratic health.

She authored Woman President: Confronting Postfeminist Political Culture and Governing Codes: Gender, Metaphor, and Political Identity. Her work analyzes how media representations shape political possibilities for marginalized groups.

Publications consistently critique gendered power structures in comics, elections, and digital culture. Recent articles examine authoritarian symbols in superheroine narratives, reproductive justice rhetoric, and beauty community subversion.

Awards include NCA's Winans-Wichelns Award and the Carrie Chapman Catt Prize. She edited the Quarterly Journal of Speech (2020-2022) and contributes public scholarship through The Conversation.
