Karin Nelson

Karin Nelson is Clinical Associate Professor in Biological Sciences at UIC's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She teaches ecology, animal behavior, evolution, and comparative vertebrate anatomy, while coordinating laboratory programs for anatomy and behavior courses. Nelson serves as faculty advisor for the Biology Colloquium, guiding students toward biological careers through industry exposure and field experiences.

Her research examines sexual selection dynamics, lek mating systems, hormonal influences on mate choice, and adaptive radiations in animal species. Nelson emphasizes experiential learning through Midwest field trips that connect urban students with natural ecosystems.
