Prof. Dr. Karin Müller is a full Professor of Private Law, Commercial and Business Law, and Civil Procedure Law at the University of Lucerne. She holds a doctoral degree from the University of Lucerne (2003) and completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Zurich. Her research focuses on partnership law, equity-replacing loans, civil procedure, and collective redress mechanisms. She has held roles such as Assistant Professor (2006–2014) and Associate Professor (2014) before becoming a full Professor in 2014. Müller is actively involved in academic governance, serving as Chair of the Private Law subject area (since 2022), member of the University of Lucerne Faculty Management (since 2019), and editorial board member of the Swiss Review of Business and Financial Market Law (SZW).
Her professional affiliations include membership in the advisory board of the National Contact Point for the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (since 2020) and the Federal Office of Justice’s expert group on collective redress (since 2017). She co-founded the Institute for Economy and Regulation (WIRE) in 2018 and previously served on the board of the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law (2016–2019).
Müller’s legal expertise spans teaching, research, and practical experience as an attorney-at-law. Her career includes roles at law firms such as Fellmann Tschümperlin Lötscher and a visiting professorship in company law at the University of St. Gallen (2022). She is also the law library delegate for the University of Lucerne’s Faculty of Law.
