Dr. Karim Dib is a Senior Lecturer at Queen's University Belfast's Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, where he leads a leukocyte biology research group. His work focuses on signaling mechanisms in neutrophils and platelets, with emphasis on histamine receptor modulation and adhesion molecules.
His laboratory discovered the functional histamine H4 receptor in human neutrophils and established its anti-inflammatory role in degranulation. Current MRC-funded projects investigate bacterial histamine production in chronic lung infections. Dr. Dib teaches immunology and medical French, coordinates practical immunology courses, and serves as peer reviewer for major immunology journals.
