Karen Leyva

Karen Leyva, PT, DPT, is an Instructor in the Physical Therapy Programs at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (San Marcos, CA campus). She holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the College of St. Scholastica, a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from California State University, Long Beach, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Health Professions from California State University, Fullerton.

Dr. Leyva's research examines ultrasound imaging in physical therapy and female strength/conditioning across the lifespan. With 30+ years in sports/orthopedic physical therapy, she has served as clinic director and clinical instructor. She maintains Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (2009) and Strength/Conditioning Specialist (2017) certifications and is active in the American Physical Therapy Association, American Association of Anatomists, and National Strength and Conditioning Association.
