Karen Killinger

Karen Killinger is an Extension Food Safety Specialist at Washington State University (WSU), affiliated with the Department of Animal Sciences within the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS). Her primary role involves advancing food safety practices and education.

Education: She holds a Ph.D. in Animal Science with a minor in Microbiology from Texas Tech University.

Research Interests: Dr. Killinger focuses on educational programs for at-risk populations prone to foodborne illnesses, food safety protocols in food service establishments, and the relationship between cooked meat color and internal temperature. Her work also addresses antimicrobial drug resistance in foodborne pathogens, contributing to public health and food safety advancements.
