Karen Detlefsen is a Professor of Philosophy and Education at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education, and currently serves as Vice Provost for Education. Her research focuses on early modern philosophy, including the history of philosophy of science, history and philosophy of education, and women's contributions in the history of philosophy. She has published extensively on figures such as Astell, Cavendish, Descartes, and others, covering metaphysics, natural sciences, ethics, and political philosophy.
Dr. Detlefsen actively engages with pre-college students and teachers in the School District of Philadelphia, integrating philosophy into K-12 classrooms.
