Karen Coachman

Karen Coachman is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at North Carolina State University, specializing in Spanish and Portuguese language education. She holds an M.A. in Spanish from NC State (2008) and a B.A. in Spanish and Studio Art from Wake Forest University (1999).

Her roles include serving as Co-Director of the Spain: Language & Culture in Valencia summer study abroad program and as Portuguese Section Coordinator and Minor Advisor. Previously, she advised the Spanish Club from 2010–2021.

Her teaching focuses on beginning and intermediate Spanish and Portuguese courses, emphasizing second language acquisition methods and cultural immersion. She contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives through her work in language pedagogy and study abroad programs.
