Kannan Ramaswamy

Kannan Ramaswamy is the William D. Hacker Chair Professor of Management at Thunderbird School of Global Management's Department of Global Business. He is globally recognized for expertise in global strategy, emerging markets (particularly India and South Asia), energy sector dynamics, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions. He has advised multinational corporations like ExxonMobil, LG Electronics, and ONGC (India).

Education: PhD in Strategic Management from Virginia Tech; MBA and BS in Physics from the University of Madras, India.

Research focuses on emerging market multinationals, corporate diversification, privatization impacts, and energy transition. Recent studies address supply chain sustainability and corporate social responsibility in emerging economies. His work appears in journals like Strategic Management Journal and Journal of International Business Studies.

Award-winning educator, teaching Global Strategy courses consistently ranked 'Most Valuable' by alumni. Leads executive education programs for oil & gas executives and global strategy initiatives. Co-authored books include Global Strategy: Creating and Sustaining Advantage across Borders (Oxford University Press) and The Global Oil & Gas Industry (Pennwell).
