Dr. Kambiz Etesami is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He specializes in adult and pediatric liver, bowel, kidney, and pancreas transplantation, alongside hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) surgery using traditional and minimally invasive techniques. His clinical focus includes expanding organ availability through living donation and optimizing extended criteria organs, as well as managing advanced hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancers. He is an active member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and an associate fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Etesami’s research emphasizes pediatric and adult transplantation outcomes, surgical techniques for portal vein thrombosis, and novel scoring systems like the CHALF Score for acute liver failure risk stratification. His work addresses technical challenges in kidney transplantation for small pediatric recipients and immunologic benefits of maternal living donor grafts.
