Kaitlin Mondello

Dr. Kaitlin Mondello is a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), where she joined in 2024. She holds a Ph.D. from The Graduate Center, CUNY, and master's and bachelor's degrees from Stetson University. Previously, she taught at Millersville University of Pennsylvania and Hunter College, CUNY, and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at The Teaching and Learning Center at The Graduate Center, CUNY.

Her research and teaching focus on intersections of literature, nature, and the environment, with particular emphasis on gender, race, climate change, science, and animals. She has published widely on Romanticism, ecofeminism, and ecocriticism, with recent works analyzing connections between literary figures like Emily Dickinson and scientific thinkers like Charles Darwin.

Dr. Mondello has received notable awards including the 2019 Pedagogy Award from NASSR/Romantic Circles and the 2016 Lore Metzger Prize from the International Conference on Romanticism. Her grants include the 2018 Interdisciplinary Research in the Service of Public Knowledge Grant.

In her teaching, she focuses on courses like Environmental Literature, Romanticism, Poetry, and Science Writing, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to literature and the natural world. She is affiliated with the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment (ASLE) and the International Conference on Romanticism (ICR).
