Kaden Jelsing is a Lecturer in American Studies at Smith College. His research and teaching focus on the intersections of Indigenous North America, settler colonialism, and environmental history, with particular emphasis on the nineteenth-century Pacific Northwest.

Jelsing's work explores Indigenous-settler relationships through the lens of prophecy and land relations, examining how visions of the future shaped interactions between Native peoples and settlers. His current book manuscript, Sovereign Futures: Indigenous and Settler Prophecy in Nineteenth-Century American Northwests, expands on this research.
