KC Rakow

KC Rakow is the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Accounting and Business Law at Loyola University Chicago's Quinlan School of Business. He also serves as Director of Accreditation and Assurance of Learning and Graduate Program Director for the MS Accountancy program. His research focuses on the impact of accounting information on firm value and innovative teaching methods in accounting education. Rakow holds a PhD from the University of Georgia and dual bachelor's and master's degrees in Accountancy from the University of Mississippi. He maintains an active CPA license and previously worked in Arthur Andersen's audit division.

Rakow's research spans corporate financial disclosure policies, earnings forecasts' market impacts, and financial literacy initiatives. His work has been published in journals like the Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Accounting Education, and Managerial Finance. He actively contributes to professional organizations including the American Accounting Association and Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants.

His teaching portfolio includes courses such as Intermediate Accounting, Accounting Theory, and Financial Accounting. Rakow integrates practical experiences through service-learning projects, emphasizing real-world applications of financial literacy.
