K.W. Tang

K.W. Tang serves as a Professor holding a Personal Chair at Swansea University within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He is affiliated with the School of Biosciences, Geography and Physics, where he conducts research and teaching in marine science disciplines.

Professor Tang's research expertise spans marine biology with particular focus on plankton ecology, fisheries science, and aquatic ecosystem dynamics. His scholarly work integrates biological, chemical, and physical aspects of marine systems to understand ecosystem functioning and responses to environmental change. His research has significant implications for understanding climate impacts on marine biodiversity and fisheries resources.

Professor Tang has secured substantial research funding throughout his career, most notably through the SEACAMS2 project (2016) which represented a major investment in marine science with a total value of £12 million, of which approximately £5 million was allocated to Swansea University.
