K. Alex Ilyasova

Dr. K. Alex Ilyasova serves as Associate Professor in the Technical Communication & Information Design (TCID) program within the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She previously held leadership positions as TCID Program Director and Associate Dean for the College of LAS.

Her educational background includes:

• BA and MA in English from University of Colorado Denver
• PhD from Michigan Technological University

Dr. Ilyasova's research program explores the intersection of emotional intelligence and professional communication, with current emphasis on empathy frameworks in user experience design, diversity-inclusive technical documentation, and burnout prevention in collaborative environments. Her work bridges theoretical foundations from literacy studies with contemporary workplace communication challenges.

She actively cultivates industry-academic partnerships, having developed structured internship programs that connect TCID students with professional communication opportunities while addressing real organizational needs through work-based learning models.
