Jürgen Furchtlehner

Jürgen Furchtlehner is a Lecturer and Research Assistant at the Institute of Landscape Architecture, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU). He holds a Diploma in Landscape Design and Landscape Planning from BOKU (2012) and completed an Erasmus exchange at the University of Copenhagen (2010). His academic career at BOKU spans from 2012 to present, focusing on urban transformation studies.

His research examines the transformation of public spaces with emphasis on:

• Redesign of street spaces for enhanced livability
• Green space provision and climate resilience strategies
• Brownfield regeneration approaches
• Equitable access to urban landscapes
• Contemporary landscape architecture theory

He teaches courses in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning and Urbanism.

Analysis of his 15 most recent publications reveals consistent themes in sustainable urban transformation, with particular focus on: streetscape redesign methodologies, climate-adaptive public spaces, and participatory planning approaches across European contexts.
