Jürgen Fischer

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Jürgen Fischer is a Professor in Concrete Structures/Civil Engineering Structures at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Conservation/Restoration. His expertise lies in concrete construction and civil engineering structures, with particular focus on calculation, design, construction and execution of load-bearing structures. He serves as Library representative for the construction department and holds positions on the Faculty Council, Study Commission, and as Library Officer of the BKR Faculty.

His research interests center on concrete construction with specific expertise in shear behavior of reinforced concrete components without shear reinforcement, crack propagation analysis for reinforced concrete, and comprehensive structural design principles. Fischer has made significant contributions to Eurocode 2 implementation in reinforced and prestressed concrete construction through numerous publications in authoritative reference works like Schneider Construction Tables.

His publication record spans over 25 years, with recent work (2017-2022) focusing on practical applications of Eurocode 2 standards in construction engineering. Earlier research (1995-2000) established foundational work in shear behavior analysis, crack propagation modeling, and failure mechanisms in concrete structures. His publications appear in prestigious references, conference proceedings, and technical journals, demonstrating both theoretical and practical contributions to structural engineering.

Prof. Fischer teaches Bachelor's courses in Solid Construction I-III and Master's courses in Prestressed concrete construction and Basics of solid bridge construction. His educational background includes civil engineering studies at TH Darmstadt, research associate position at the Institute of Concrete Structures, habilitation at University of Leipzig, and prior professorship at HTW Dresden in Structural Engineering/Bridge Construction. His professional experience includes engineering work at Krebs und Kiefer, where he served as both research associate and Managing Director.
