Prof. Jörg Szarzynski is a Research Fellow in the Department of Geography at the University of the Free State (UFS) and serves as the Head of the Global Mountain Safeguard Research Programme (GLOMOS) at the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS). He is also an Associate Professor at the UFS Disaster Management Training and Education Centre for Africa (DiMTEC).
