About
Jérôme Tignon is Professor at Sorbonne University and researcher at LPENS laboratory at École Normale Supérieure. Educated at ENS and Université Pierre & Marie Curie, he earned his PhD in 1996, followed by postdoctoral research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory studying ultra-fast spectroscopy of III-V semiconductors.
His research expertise spans ultra-fast optical and THz spectroscopy, with significant contributions to understanding electronic excitation dynamics in semiconductor nanostructures. He established the ultra-fast THz spectroscopy group at ENS in 2005, pioneering investigations into THz-quantum cascade lasers, spin excitations, and carbon-based materials.
Organized the IRMMW-THz conference in Paris (2019) and has authored over 110 publications with 3 patents. Previously served as director of LPA laboratory before its merger into LPENS.
