Ján Bulla is a Lecturer and accompanist at the Department of Dance Production, Faculty of Music and Dance, Academy of Music and Dance in Bratislava. He has held this role since 2017 (full-time) after working externally since 2013. His academic background includes studies in composition, conducting, and organ at institutions like the Ján Levoslav Bella Conservatory (Banská Bystrica), Bratislava Conservatory, and the Academy of Music and Dance. He also teaches dance accompaniment and piano practice, starting in 2022.
As a performer, Bulla specializes in organ music, collaborating with leading dance institutions such as the Slovak Folk Art Collective and Slovak Dance Theatre. He has performed internationally in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Austria, Germany, Poland, and Luxembourg, including notable venues like Kremnica Castle Organ and Vienna's Peterskirche. Since 2013, he has been the organist at Kremnica’s Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria and regularly performs at Baroque organ sites.
His awards include a 1st place in the 2009 Slovak Young Organists Competition and a bronze award at the 1999 Ján Cikker Festival. Bulla maintains an active performance schedule, with upcoming concerts in 2024–2025, including a recital at Kremnica Castle Organ (July 2025). His pedagogical work focuses on bridging classical music performance with dance accompaniment, particularly in Slovak folk and historical dance traditions.
