Dr. Juxi Leitner is a Senior Lecturer at Monash University, affiliated with the Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering. His research focuses on Robotics, Computer Vision, and Artificial Intelligence, with a strong emphasis on practical applications such as robotic manipulation, space robotics, and AI-driven solutions. He holds a PhD from the Swiss AI Lab (IDSIA) and has held roles at the European Space Agency and the University of Tokyo. Currently, he is CTO and co-founder of LYRO Robotics, an enterprise focused on translating research into real-world technologies.
Education: BSc in Software and Information Engineering (TU Wien), MSc in Space Robotics (Luleå TU and Aalto University), and a PhD in AI & Robotics (USI/IDSIA). He has authored over 100 publications and delivered 50+ invited talks globally. His awards include the 2017 Amazon Robotics Challenge win.
Research interests span robotic vision, deep learning applications, and entrepreneurship-driven innovation. He advises PhD students in intelligent robotic manipulation, space exploration, and tech entrepreneurship. His work contributes to UN SDGs through advancements in sustainable robotics and AI.
