Justin Roe

Professor Justin Roe is a Consultant Clinical-Academic and Professor of Practice (Speech and Swallowing Rehabilitation) at Imperial College London's Department of Surgery & Cancer, Faculty of Medicine. He serves as Clinical Service Lead at the National Centre for Airway Reconstruction/Complex Laryngology Service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Professional Lead in the Department of Speech, Voice and Swallowing at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

Education:

Research Focus: His work centers on dysphagia rehabilitation in head/neck cancers, airway stenosis, and radiation-associated toxicities. He leads NIHR and CRUK-funded studies on swallowing outcomes, quality-of-life interventions, and patient-centered care models. His research employs experience-based co-design methodologies and focuses on functional rehabilitation in oncology.

Publications: His recent articles demonstrate consistent focus on dysphagia management in oncology, with evolving emphasis on radiation toxicity mitigation, multidisciplinary care models, and quality-of-life interventions across the cancer continuum.

Clinical Programs: Directs the Imperial Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing Course and voice disorder management programs. Developed Patient Concerns Inventory for Airway Stenosis (PCI-AS) through Imperial NIHR Biomedical Research Centre fellowship.
