Justin Lohr

Justin Lohr is a Principal Lecturer in the English Department at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he has taught since 2010. He specializes in Academic Writing, Advanced Composition, and courses focusing on social justice, language literacy, media culture, and public health. His teaching emphasizes multimodal composition, community activism, and service-learning pedagogy.

He served as Assistant Director of the Academic Writing Program and Editor-in-Chief of Interpolations: A Journal of Academic Writing. His research explores reflective writing practices, emotion in educational contexts, and strategies for community engagement. He received the Provost's Teaching Excellence Award for Professional Track Faculty in 2018.

Lohr’s career includes teaching ESL and gifted education in Spain and creative writing at Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. His courses often integrate local community issues and digital mediums to address societal challenges.
