Justin Gooding

Scientia Professor Justin Gooding is an ARC Industry Laureate Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), School of Chemistry. He holds prestigious fellowships from the Australian Academy of Science, Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, and International Society of Electrochemistry. As inaugural editor-in-chief of ACS Sensors, he shapes the direction of sensor research globally.

Professor Gooding's research spans surface modification, nanotechnology, and electrochemistry for biosensors and medical applications. His group develops innovative approaches to electrochemical detection, nanoconfinement effects, and biomaterial interfaces. Key research areas include electrochemical biosensors, nanozymes, nanopore sensing, and advanced materials for medical diagnostics.

His recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate leadership in electrochemical sensing technologies, with emphasis on clinical translation. Articles frequently appear in high-impact journals including Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, and ACS Sensors, covering topics from liquid biopsies to electrocatalysis.
