Justin Fantauzzo

Justin Fantauzzo is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of History at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His research examines the First World War with emphasis on the British Empire, medical history, and post-war societal impacts, particularly regarding malaria's long-term effects on veterans.

Research focuses on understudied theaters of WWI including Palestine, Macedonia, and Africa. Current book project The Great War Against Malaria investigates disease management and veteran healthcare policies. Publications analyze colonial recruitment, neuropsychiatric consequences of tropical diseases, and comparative memory studies.

Publication themes center on medical legacies of warfare, imperial military systems, and the social reintegration of veterans. Recent articles demonstrate methodological innovation combining medical history with imperial studies.

Supervises graduate research on soldier photography, POW experiences, and French military medicine. No awards or laboratory affiliations are currently documented.
