Justin Den Herder

Justin Den Herder is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at The Cooper Union's Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture. As Principal and Director of Design Innovation at Silman, he integrates computational tools with structural engineering across 500+ projects spanning new construction, renovations, and historic preservation. He received the 2023 Robert Silman Award for his '2x' project focusing on repurposing demolition wood through robotic fabrication.

Research interests include sustainable material reuse and collaborative design processes. Additional professional activities include former editorship of SEAoNY Cross Sections magazine and post-earthquake structural assessments in Nepal.
