Jun Gao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan, College of Engineering. His research focuses on 3D computer vision, computer graphics, and generative models.
Research interests include:
- Developing controllable generative AI for photorealistic virtual environments
- Bridging 3D representations across graphics and vision
- Exploiting structures from 2D/3D data
His work has enabled real-world applications like NVIDIA Picasso's text-to-3D generation and Toronto Annotation Suite's 2D annotation tools. Research has been showcased at NVIDIA GTC through projects including GANVerse3D and Neural DriveSim.
