Juliet Forshaw

Juliet Forshaw is Associate Professor and Chair of the Music Department at the State University of New York at Oswego, where she teaches classical music, opera, popular music, heavy metal, and songwriting.

Her academic credentials include:

• Ph.D. in Historical Musicology from Columbia University

Professor Forshaw's research bridges historical and contemporary music studies with dual expertise in 19th-century Russian opera and heavy metal musicology. Her work examines character development in Russian operatic traditions and analyzes thematic structures in heavy metal across political, musical, and cosmic dimensions, connecting historical musicology with contemporary cultural analysis.
