Julien Brun

Julien Brun is a Lecturer at the Bren School of Environment at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also serves as an Earth & Environmental Sciences Research Facilitator in the Research Data Services department at the UCSB Library. Previously, he was a Senior Data Scientist at the National Center for Ecological Analysis & Synthesis (NCEAS). His work focuses on helping researchers adopt collaborative and reproducible practices through improved data management and programming techniques.

His research explores ecohydrological impacts of extreme weather events, land cover change, and vegetation monitoring. He utilizes Earth observation techniques including remote sensing, GIS, and process-based modeling to study environmental systems and their responses to natural disturbances like tropical cyclones.
