Julie Escurignan

Julie Escurignan is a Senior Lecturer in Management and specialist in Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) at the Catholic University of the West (UCO Angers), within the Faculty of Humanities. She holds a PhD in Film & Television Studies from the University of Roehampton (UK) and a Master's in Information and Communication Sciences from CELSA Sorbonne University. Her research focuses on fan studies, media audiences, and TV series fandom, particularly analyzing fan practices such as cosplay, conventions, and merchandising. She is a founding member of GER Fans, France’s first research group on fan phenomena, and affiliated with CHUS (UCO) and MICA (University of Bordeaux Montaigne).

Her academic contributions include studies on Game of Thrones, Black Mirror, and transnational fan cultures. She has taught management, marketing, and media communication in French and English, emphasizing innovative pedagogy. Notable awards include the 2023 Pôle Léonard de Vinci Innovation Prize.
