About
Julie Denef is a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Architectural Engineering, and Urban Planning of the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain). Her doctoral research focuses on the creation of intra-urban parks in metropolitan areas undergoing regeneration, with case studies in Liège (Saint-Léonard Esplanade), Antwerp (Spoor Noord Park), and Brussels (Tour&Taxis site). She explores tensions between urban living values and territorial development challenges through a landscape urbanism lens.
The research involved photographic documentation by Dominique Costermans, capturing aesthetic and humanist perspectives of these spaces. The findings were presented alongside an exhibition at the Forum Saint-Luc in 2012, highlighting the interplay between physical environments and socio-political processes in urban park development.
