Julie Critcher

Julie Critcher serves as Senior Lecturer and Course Director for the University Certificate Community Public Health Nursing (UCCPHN) at Canterbury Christ Church University's School of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied and Public Health. With over 40 years of clinical nursing experience, she joined the university full-time in February 2022 after extensive career in frontline healthcare.

Her educational foundation includes:

• Adult Nursing qualification (1982)
• BSc (Hons) Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nurse pathway) from Canterbury Christ Church University (2001-2002)
• Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Education (2007)

Ms. Critcher's expertise bridges emergency department nursing and school nursing practice, with progressive clinical experience from Band 5 to Band 8a positions. Her academic journey began through a 2008-2018 secondment to the SCPHN team, evolving into sessional lecturing before her current full-time role. She specializes in developing nurses for public health roles through the UCCPHN program and Negotiated Learning modules.

As Course Director, she shapes curriculum for practicing nurses entering Health Visiting or School Nursing fields. Her teaching philosophy integrates decades of clinical insight with contemporary professional development frameworks, focusing on practical application in community healthcare settings.
