About
Julianne Couch is a Visiting Lecturer of English at the University of Wyoming's Department of English. She began teaching at UW in 1998, contributing to the English 1010/graduate assistant program and co-developing the Professional Writing minor. Her work emphasizes technical writing, creative nonfiction, and regional studies. She relocated to Iowa in 2011 but maintains ties to Wyoming's cultural landscape through her writing.
Education: M.A. and B.S. in English, and B.F.A. in Dramatic Arts, all from Emporia State University.
Research focuses on small-town resilience, regional identity, and the intersection of environment and culture. Her publications include books like Along the Sylvan Trail (2017) and Traveling the Power Line (2013), which explore themes of geography, community, and human impact on landscapes.
Teaching specialties include Technical Writing for Professions, Magazine Writing, and courses on non-profit communication. Active in Iowa's literary community and local arts organizations.
