Dr. Juliane Rebentisch is a Professor of Philosophy at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg (HFBK Hamburg). She holds a doctorate from the University of Potsdam (2002) and a habilitation from Goethe University Frankfurt (2010). Her academic roles include former President of the German Society for Aesthetics (2015–2018), membership at the Frankfurt Institute for Social Research (2014–2024), and a Visiting Professorship at Princeton University’s German Department since 2019.
Her research focuses on intersections of aesthetics, ethics, and political philosophy, addressing topics such as freedom in capitalism, contemporary art’s role in progress, and queer subcultures. Key publications include *Ästhetik der Installation*, *Die Kunst der Freiheit*, and *Theorien der Gegenwartskunst*. She was awarded the 2017 Lessing Prize for her contributions to cultural and intellectual life in Hamburg.
