Julian Weghuber

Julian Weghuber is a FH-Professor and Privatdozent at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, affiliated with the Research Center Wels. He leads the Medical Engineering/TIMed Center and Food Technology and Nutrition Center of Excellence. His research focuses on plant extracts' bioavailability, antioxidant properties, and applications in food technology and medical engineering.

He has coordinated 19 research projects, including FFoQSI 3.0 and PhytoFRASS, and holds 6 prestigious awards such as the FH OÖ Forschungspreis (2019, 2016). His work spans 2002–2025, yielding 167 publications and 2908 citations (h-index 28).

Research interests include cell membrane dynamics, microbiota interactions, and sustainable packaging solutions. Key contributions include improving vitamin absorption via plant extracts and enhancing intestinal health through fermented herbal extracts.

He chairs multiple organizations including the Gesellschaft für Vitaminforschung e.V. and serves on boards of FFoQSI GmbH. His activities include over 60 talks and peer reviews, with media coverage in ORF - Bewusst gesund (2023).
