Julian Norato is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Connecticut. He joined the department in 2014 after leading the Product Optimization group at Caterpillar, where he developed computational tools for structural optimization and welding sequence analysis. His research focuses on integrating failure, geometric, manufacturing, and cost requirements into topology and shape optimization techniques for advanced structures and materials.
