Julian M. Rucker is an Assistant Professor of Psychology & Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, an M.A. in Psychology from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from Yale University. Prior to his faculty role, he was a Carolina Postdoctoral Program for Faculty Diversity Fellow.
Research Focus: His work explores psychological factors shaping perceptions of and motivations to reduce racial inequality. This includes examining how lay associations of racism with interpersonal biases or structural disadvantage influence beliefs about societal racial inequality, as well as psychological mechanisms behind misperceptions of racial progress in the U.S.
