Julia Williams is a Professor in the Humanities and Social Sciences Department at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where she has taught since 1992. She holds a B.A. from Trinity University, Diploma from Trinity College Dublin, and M.A./Ph.D. from Emory University. Williams previously served as Executive Director of Institutional Research and Interim Dean of Cross-Cutting Programs.
Her research examines educational assessment methods, engineering communication practices, and organizational change in higher education. She develops frameworks for evaluating student learning outcomes and studies workplace communication patterns in technical fields. Williams integrates literature studies with engineering education through courses on professional communication and British literature.
Honors include the Emily K Schlesinger Award for Service to the IEEE Professional Communication Society (2015) and the Board of Trustees Outstanding Scholar Award (2008). Williams co-leads the Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) program, which teaches leadership as motivating others toward shared goals through practical scenarios and communication skill-building.
