Julia Vaingurt

Julia Vaingurt is Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Polish, Russian, and Lithuanian Studies at University of Illinois Chicago's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Her scholarship examines Russian and European modernism through interdisciplinary lenses.

Education includes:

• Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from Harvard University
• M.A. in Comparative Literature from University of Iowa
• B.A. in English from Grinnell College

Research encompasses 20th-century Russian avant-garde, technology-bioethics intersections in literature, and posthumanism. Authored 'Wonderlands of the Avant-Garde' and edited 'The Human Reimagined: Posthumanism in Russia'. Current book project analyzes aesthetic resistance in late Soviet culture.
