Julia Riess

Dr. Julia Riess is a Senior Scientist (post doc) and Director of the Competence Center for Financial Education at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. She holds a doctoral degree in Social and Economic Sciences and has been actively contributing to research and teaching in business and financial education since 2014.

Her research focuses on entrepreneurial inclination, financial education, and economic literacy, particularly examining how educational frameworks and demographic factors influence financial and entrepreneurial behaviors. She employs the Theory of Planned Behavior to analyze these dynamics in both school and professional settings.

Recent publications highlight her work on entrepreneurial intention and subjective beliefs in general and commercial schools (2024), intersectional perspectives on entrepreneurship (2024), and financial literacy gaps among vulnerable populations (2024). Her work spans original research articles, conference proceedings, and policy-oriented contributions.
