Julia Fischer is a Research Assistant and PhD student at the University of Lucerne, Faculty of Economics and Management, affiliated with Professor Manuel Oechslin’s chair for International Economics. She joined the faculty in September 2022 and focuses on Development Economics, Political Economy, and International Economics, with a special interest in the interactions of conflicts, foreign aid, and FDI.

Prior to her PhD, Julia worked as a research assistant for Dr. Birgit Meyer at WU Wien and gained professional experience through internships at Allianz Elementar Versicherungs-AG and the economic department of the Austrian embassy in Ljubljana. Her research integrates economic development, political systems, and international economic relations, with a particular focus on conflict dynamics and investment patterns.
