Julia Crick

Professor Julia Crick FBA holds the chair in Palaeography and Manuscript Studies at King's College London, where she directs the Leverhulme Doctoral Scholarship Programme 'Knowledge Orders before Modernity'. Elected Fellow of the British Academy (2021) and Society of Antiquaries (2019), her research investigates medieval manuscript culture with focus on script transmission, forgery practices, and the Exon Domesday survey.

Major research projects:

• AHRC-funded 'Conqueror's Commissioners: Unlocking the Domesday Survey of South-West England' (Principal Investigator)
• Leverhulme Research Fellowship: Script and Forgery in Britain to 1100
• Co-direction of the 'Knowledge Orders before Modernity' doctoral program

Professor Crick serves on international committees including the Comité internationale de paléographie latine and chairs the Royal Historical Society-British Academy Joint Committee on Anglo-Saxon Charters. She contributes to public history through BBC Radio, British Library collaborations, and the 'Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms' exhibition advisory board.
