Jun.-Prof. Dr. Julia Bee is an Assistant Professor for Image Theory at the Faculty of Media, Bauhaus University Weimar. Her research focuses on media studies, gender/queer theory, film studies, and media anthropology. She has held visiting professorships at the Free University of Berlin (2020) and the University of Vienna (2016), and was a Mercator Fellow at the University of Siegen (2020/21). Key roles include co-spokesperson of the Gender/Queer Studies working group (2018–2020) and recipient of the 2015 Best Dissertation Award from Heinrich Heine University.
Her work bridges media theory with activism, addressing topics like climate crisis, feminist film analysis, and cycling culture.
