Judy Lane is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Midwifery at the University of Worcester. She joined the midwifery teaching team to lead a module on the BSc programme. With over two decades of clinical and managerial experience in NHS Trusts across Birmingham and Worcestershire, her roles have included Labour Ward Coordinator, Manager of an alongside midwife-led unit, Team Leader for multi-professional education, and Lead Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) at Birmingham Women’s & Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.
Her qualifications include a BSc (Hons) Midwifery from the University of Central England (now Birmingham City University), an MSc in Advancing Practice from the University of Worcester (including a PGCert in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education), and diplomas in Nursing and Higher Education. Judy is a dual-registered nurse and midwife.
Her teaching philosophy focuses on empowering student midwives through experiential learning, leveraging her clinical, managerial, and advocacy expertise. She emphasizes fostering excellence in clinical practice and professional advocacy within maternal healthcare.
