Professor Judy Bauer is a leading academic in Nutrition and Dietetics at Monash University, serving as Discipline Lead in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food since February 2022. She holds a PhD from Queensland University of Technology (2003) and has over 40 years of clinical, academic, and research experience. Bauer is a Fellow of Dietitians Australia and serves on the Board of the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia and the Australian Dietetics Council.
Her research focuses on malnutrition screening, oncology nutrition interventions, and sarcopenia management, with a Scopus H-index of 41 and over 225 publications. Key projects include revolutionizing sarcopenia care pathways, wearable sensor applications for burn patients, and automated malnutrition screening tools. Bauer has supervised over 15 PhD students who now lead clinical and academic roles globally.
Research interests span nutrition assessment, clinical trials, and evidence-based guidelines, particularly in oncology and aging populations.
