Dr. Judith Vey is a Research Fellow and head of the "Social Movements, Technology, Conflicts" department at the Center for Technology and Society, Technical University of Berlin, and a fellow at the Institute for Protest and Movement Research (ipb). She has been active in refugee studies since 2015, conducting research on protest dynamics and refugee inclusion.
Her work centers on Refugee Studies, Social Movements, and Border Regime analysis, with specific expertise in Protest and Participation opportunities, Refugee Agency, and ethical Participatory Research Methods. She has investigated anti-refugee protests, welcoming initiatives, and LGBTIQ* refugee experiences, prioritizing inclusive methodological approaches.
Dr. Vey led the Thyssen-funded project "Action Capability in the German Accommodation of Refugees" (2016-2021) and co-edited the anthology "Accommodation of Refugees in Germany. Inclusion, Exclusion, Participation?" (2021). She collaborates with research teams at the Center for Technology and Society and the Institute for Protest and Movement Research on interdisciplinary projects examining refugee integration and social conflict.
