Judith E. Rosenbaum is an Associate Professor of Media Studies and Chair of the Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of Maine, where she also serves as Associate Dean of Faculty Development and Administration for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a PhD in Mass Communication from Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
Her research focuses on media usage patterns, social media's societal impact, media literacy, and health communication. Collaborative projects involve sociologists, psychologists, and community stakeholders. Notable works include her 2018 book Constructing Digital Cultures and co-authored textbooks on computer-mediated communication.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on media theories, research methods, strategic communication, and digital culture. Awards include the 2024 Outstanding Faculty Award for Research and Creative Engagement. Recent activities include workshops on media literacy and climate change misinformation, panel discussions on social media and mental health, and keynotes addressing digital democracy challenges.
