João Marques serves as a Research Fellow at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), affiliated with the Nanofabrication, Optoelectronics and Energy Applications (NOA) group and Salomé Research Group. His current work focuses on the Alliance for Energy Transition (ATE) project, where he develops sensors for monitoring dust accumulation (soiling) in photovoltaic systems to optimize solar energy efficiency.
His academic foundation includes a Master’s degree in Engineering Physics from Instituto Superior Técnico. During this program, he completed thesis research at the Group of Lasers and Plasmas (GoLP), specializing in the design and implementation of optical setups for laser-based experimental physics.
Marques' research integrates Nanotechnology and Optoelectronics to address practical challenges in Renewable Energy systems, particularly through Sensor Development for photovoltaic maintenance. His expertise in Laser Physics directly supports instrumentation design for energy applications, demonstrating a strong applied-research orientation.
He actively contributes to the Alliance for Energy Transition (ATE) project, a significant initiative advancing clean energy technologies through innovative monitoring solutions. This work occurs within INL's collaborative framework, leveraging resources from both the NOA group and Salomé Research Group.
Within INL, Marques operates in the Nanofabrication, Optoelectronics and Energy Applications (NOA) group, which focuses on nanoscale engineering solutions for energy challenges, and participates in the Salomé Research Group's interdisciplinary efforts in photonic and sensor technologies.
