Dr. Joyce M. McBeth is an Assistant Professor at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Arts and Science, Department of Geological Sciences, where she leads the McBeth Geomicrobiology Research Group. Her research focuses on microbial roles in biogeochemical cycles, particularly transformations of toxic compounds and metal(loid)s in natural and industrial environments.
Research interests include redox transformations of metals, iron-oxidizing/reducing bacteria, applications of synchrotron methods, and microbial ecology in diverse environments including mine wastes, oil sands tailings, and hydrocarbon-contaminated sites.
Dr. McBeth has supervised numerous graduate students and collaborates extensively on NSERC-funded projects including the TERRE-NET Strategic Network Grant. Her work involves partnerships with industry leaders like Cameco and Federated Cooperatives Ltd.
