Joyce Adams

Joyce Adams is an Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame, affiliated with the Keough School of Global Affairs and the Eck Institute for Global Health. She serves as the Global Maternal Research Lead, focusing on reducing maternal mortality through research and interventions in postpartum care.

Her research targets maternal health disparities in Sub-Saharan Africa and the United States, emphasizing scalable interventions to improve postpartum care access. She has led projects on midwifery knowledge, cross-cultural adaptation of healthcare tools, and WASH insecurity impacts on maternal health.

Recent publications include studies on postpartum education for midwives in Ghana, validation of the Dagbani Readiness for Hospital Discharge Scale, and strategies to address maternal health inequities in low-income settings. Her work spans Global Health, Public Health, and Health Systems Implementation.
